I am
Jeanette Mauricio, a Peruvian-Spanish journalist with more than 10 years of
experience in mass media and who works to defend human rights. I had my first
radio show when I was 16 years old and since then the radio has been in one of
my favorite media. I have also experience in online newspaper, magazines and in
Communication department. In the latter I worked for the Spanish Institute for
Youth, which at that time belonged to the former Ministry of Equality; and in
the Spanish Council for Women, which belongs to the Municipality of Madrid.
Before
to come to Norway I lived almost one year in Finland where I participated in a
project called “Challenge gender roles to prevent trafficking”, that was a
European project between Finland and Baltic countries.
In addition
to the journalistic work, I have been giving workshops and lectures about the
importance of including gender perspective in mass media. I have been invited
to different places to talk about gender and communication. In Norway I was
invited to the Spanish department at NTNU and for Jentevakt Anual Meeting.
I am
living almost 2 years in Norway, and I can say that I feel at home in this
country. I am fascinated with the diversity of the dialects. My first
article in a Norwegian magazine was published in Sorgenfri. Currently I am
working in more articles and at the same time I am taking a master in NTNU
(Trondheim) in Interdisciplinary culture and gender studies. My research will be about Norwegian men and violence. I also collaborate
with a Spanish radio program to analyze the construction of masculinity in mass
media. The name of my 10minutes radio production is Fábrica de hombres.
